When dealing with a client for the first time, we strongly recommend that they have a will prepared. We are please to offer this service free of charge if we are already acting on your behalf in a purchase or sale of a property. It is a worrying fact that almost 70% of the public do not have a Will. The consequences of not having a Will prepared can at best cause delay in dividing and settling the estate and at worst result in the estate being divided amongst parties where the deceased had not intended should benefit. It may even be the case that the Crown may lay claim to part of the estate, having first secured an inheritance tax payment, unless provisions are put in place to minimise this.
After completion of the Will the client will be sent a copy with the original being retained in our safe. Advice and assistance is readily available to relatives following bereavement whether or not a Will is held by the firm. The aim of the firm is to deal with all the necessary administration following a death in an efficient and prompt manner to relieve the executor of all the headaches that can be associated with the winding up of an estate. We are also able to prepare leases for both commercial and domestic properties and all attendant related conveyancing issues. The provision of a Power of Attorney can often assist someone in dealing with the affairs of someone who is perhaps abroad or is elderly and is unable to deal with his or her own affairs. |
